Hidden Beaches of Sri Lanka's South Coast

Sri Lanka's south coast is famous for its beautiful beaches, but some of the most stunning spots are the ones that don't appear in any guidebook.

Living at Ohana in Hiriketiya gives you the perfect base to explore these hidden gems. We love sharing the best recommendations with our guests — firsthand knowledge from the locals and from our own adventures along the coastline.

The south coast stretches from Galle in the west to Yala in the east, offering an incredible variety of beaches. Some are dramatic rocky coves framed by palm trees, others are long stretches of golden sand with barely a footprint in sight.

One of the joys of exploring this coastline is the journey itself. Whether you're on a scooter winding along coastal roads or in a tuk-tuk with the warm breeze in your hair, every bend in the road reveals a new vista.

We can organize guided tours with local guides, taking you to famous landmarks as well as hidden gems off the beaten path. All of this is done with the utmost respect for the local wildlife, culture, and traditions. We believe in responsible tourism that benefits the communities we're part of.

Some of our favorite secret spots are best visited early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the light turns golden and the beaches are empty. There's nothing quite like having a pristine stretch of Sri Lankan coastline all to yourself.
