Ohana Hiriketiya Surf Coliving was created by Monika and Dilu just a few minutes' walk from the beach on the stunning south coast of Sri Lanka.
Our story begins with two very different paths crossing on this Island.
Monika discovered Sri Lanka and instantly felt at home. Captivated by its people, culture, colours and flavours, she soon knew she wanted to stay longer, return often and eventually build a place that could become a home for others too.
Dilu, born and raised on the island, is an experienced surf instructor who knows these waters like the back of his hand. Always smiling and full of stories, he has guided countless surfers — and is known as one of the best instructors on the south coast.
"Together, we wanted to create a space for travellers searching for a meaningful pause: a place to work, grow, rest and feel cared for. A home where strangers become friends and, sometimes, even family."
The good spirit of this place, always smiling and helpful, knows the answers to every question, generously sharing her knowledge.
No speck of dust or stain escapes her — every space in the house shines with cleanliness.
They are both locals, they know every corner of the area. Every day, we learn from them about the country's traditions, culture and way of life.

We ask everyone to be honest, considerate and mindful of others' space. Rest matters to us all — please keep quiet between 10 PM and 7 AM. We treat our team with respect, flexibility and opportunities we'd wish for ourselves.

We do our best to stay connected with nature — reducing single-use plastic, choosing eco-friendly options where possible, and constantly learning how to do better.
